Hi everyone! I hope you are hanging in there, staying healthy and safe!
This past December, I made a whole bunch of these lovely trinket dishes and offered them as Christmas presents to family members, relatives, teachers, church friends – basically everyone!
I monogrammed each and every one of them and I even changed the color, font and design, always having in mind who I was making it for (age, sex and interests) so they’re truly personalized.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures back then so I can’t show you all the different styles, but here are the ones that are still in our home, plus the one I made today with my initials.
These little dishes are not only extremely cute, they’re actually useful ~ on a desk or on a bedside table, by the entryway where you would leave your keys and even on the bathroom countertop they can hold every teeny-tiny belonging of yours.
I placed mine on my bedside table and it’s such an elegant little addition!
They are so so, so easy and fun to make and they don’t require any expensive equipment, only a couple of supplies that can be easily ordered online.
Here’s what you need to make your own:
1. Use your computer to make a monogram or a design of your choice. I love this graphic design software, but there are many more, some are totally free, others will give you a free trial period. If you’re not familiar with any such program, you can use this monogram maker, which is easy to use and free and it will let you send your desired monogram to your email and upload it from there.
2. Print your design onto a water-slide decal paper. Let it dry for a few minutes.
3. Cut out the design leaving 2 mm of spacing around.
4. Work in a well ventilated space: Spray 3 even coats of the acrylic spray over your design, allowing 2 minutes to dry between each spraying and 10 minutes after the last spraying.
5. Submerge your design into a bowl of water for about 50-60 seconds.
6. Now, quickly position it onto your ceramic dish and carefully slide the back paper off. Gently press with your fingers and a damp cloth or paper towel (you may need to try it a couple of times before you get the hang of it).
7. Let the decal dry overnight, then place your ceramic dish intο a 230 F oven for 10-15 minutes.
The result is impeccable!
You can find all kinds of small or bigger ceramic dishes in most stores, even sometimes at your local super market.
