If you are already a friend of this blog,  click here to view my entry to the Apartment Therapy 2015 Room Makeover Contest, and please vote for me! I’m super excited to make it to the finalists round but I can not do it without your help!

Here are all the pieces that make up my daughter’s bedroom, in the order that each project was completed. As we have moved a lot over the past years, my initial intention for this room was to have two or three basic pieces of furniture that would easily fit into any other rental in the future, but at the same time make this space personal and unique.  That is why this room is not packed with furniture, but it has, instead, smaller handmade decorative pieces that make it feel warmer.

IKEA Malm Dresser Remake

The first change that occurred into this room was to cover the drawers of the white Ikea Malm Dresser with inexpensive scrapbook paper, instead of using expensive wallpaper. All the details of this project can be found here.

Pottery Barn Inspired Upholstered Headboard With Embroidered Monogram

The already existing bed had nothing more than a basic and plain headboard which I upholstered. To make it special, I embroidered my daughter’s monogram on it myself. It now looks like some dreamy piece of furniture that you would find in a magazine. The best part is that the cost to remake this bed was only $13, as I covered the headboard with an existing cotton shower curtain from Target. My post on how to make this headboard includes detailed instructions on how to embroider the monogram, a super easy task that anyone can handle! Find the instructions, here.

Do It Yourself Mirrors

A mirror is certainly a bedroom essential but bigger sized ones can be expensive. Instead, I made a set of three smaller ones which cover the space nicely and make a one of a kind statement. Each one is made by simply  putting together two items from the craft store: an embroidery hoop and a decorative mirror. Click here to find out how to make yours.

Craiglist Vanity Desk

When I found this vanity desk on Craiglist, I knew it would make the perfect bedside table. It took a lot of sanding and painting to make it look like this, but the result was exactly what I had envisioned.  It comes with a little surprise inside the drawer, too. All the before and after pictures, here.

Do It Yourself Lacquered Box With Hook

With three basic pieces of furniture in the room, I could now start accessorizing.  If you are like me, and can never have enough boxes, containers and baskets, then you will love this box. Find out how to make your own! Here is how.

How can I not be this happy for making a fabulous wall clock out of a broken one? The best part of it is that it’s a $2 remake! Click here to find out how you can make a similar one.

How To Make The Perfect Handwriting – For An Art Print

There is never enough art in a room, so once again, inspired by Pottery Barn, I made and framed these sentiment art prints, in replacement of some other temporary art. To make the perfect handwriting, I came up with a trick that everyone can use.  Find the entire story, here.
