Breakfast Yumminess In A Jar!

Breakfast Yumminess In A Jar!

My high school friend Nathalie who visited a long while ago inspired me to make these little breakfast jars. She was telling me how she prepares hers with almond milk, chia seeds and fresh fruit, lets them sit in the refrigerator overnight and then enjoys them in the morning. So easy and healthy! Since then, I’ve been making my own,  usually with low-fat yogurt, oatmeal, chia seeds, and berries or whatever else I find in the pantry and the refrigerator.

The list of ingredients is endless. You can choose between:

  • yogurt or any type of milk, such as almond milk or coconut milk.
  • all kinds of nuts – almonds and walnuts in particular but why not hazelnuts or pecans?
  • Dried fruit – I use plums and sweet apricots and I’m planning on trying cranberries, currants and of course, raisins.
  • If needed, something to sweeten things up,  like honey.  Agave and maple syrup would also work.
  • Oatmeal, muesli or your preferred cereal and other grains and seeds, especially chia seeds.
  • Fresh fruit: any fruit is just as good, but it’s best to use whole/unsliced varieties that will retain their vitamins and nutritional benefits, berries are the very best choice!

How to make them? In a jar, just add layers of your favorite ingredients, cover and refrigerate overnight. They’re full of proteins, vitamins, minerals and Omega-3. Not to mention that they’re packed with nutrients and rich in deliciousness, the perfect breakfast for everyone in the family!

The thing I like most about making them is that I know that I’m using fresh and good quality ingredients that I have selected from the store myself.

And because the presentation is half the pleasure, I use these cute Weck glass jars that show off all of the goodness and make them twice as desirable!

Between preparing them the night before and savoring them in the morning, I honestly don’t know which is more satisfying!
